“Music Wonderland” - MPCS Holiday Pops

Created and produced by MPCS artistic director Xiang Gao and hosted by the 2013 Miss Delaware Rebecca Jackson, the fun holiday pops concert features the acclaimed UD Chorale performing holiday music under the direction of Dr. Duane Cottrell.

In addition, instrumental ensembles including the Nittany Trombone Quartet; MPCS ensemble-in-residence 6IXWIRE PROJECT; and the world traveling UD Steel Band, under the direction of UD percussion professor Harvey Price, perform familiar holiday classics during this unforgettable musical experience to kick off your 2013 holiday season. Selected scenes from the Nutcracker performed by leading members of the Mid-Atlantic Ballet (MAB) under the artistic direction of MAB director Patrick V. Korstange will also delight the holiday audience.

MPCS is proud to make this very well attended concert free to children under the age of 14 accompanied by ticketed adults and school groups, which is part of the MPCS educational endeavor made possible by generous donations from MPCS donors who participated in the UD alumni and friends China trip lead by MPCS artistic director Xiang Gao.


Delaware Honors Orchestra Festival

MPCS is collaborating with the UD Community Music School, and inspiring music educators in the area to present the 2014 Delaware Honors Orchestra Festival and the Delaware Senior Solo Showcase Competition for the past Delaware All State orchestra members and other young musicians to audition, rehearse and perform in this top quality youth orchestra of the state which will be professionally presented by the prestigious concert series on Sunday February 2, 2014 at 3pm in Mitchell Hall. MPCS International Music Festival

MPCS is also planning for the 2014 MPCS International Music Festival for the young musicians to participate in a 2-week summer music camp working with world class artists and perform in public that will take place in late July and early August of 2014. Please stay tuned for updates.
