The task force will examine the adequacy of the University's facilities and equipment to support the institutional mission. There is little doubt that when the Middle States Visiting Team walks across campus, the adequacy of both facilities and equipment will be self-evident. Indeed, the University of Delaware's physical planning is in a mode of "planned maintenance" at a time when other campuses are dealing with issues of deferred maintenance. Nonetheless, this decennial self-study is an opportunity for this task force to address the following issues:

  • How are advances in instructional and facilities technology being addressed in new campus construction (e.g., Gore Hall, MBNA America Hall) and in facilities renovation (e.g., Memorial Hall, Purnell Hall)?

  •
  • How does the University determine its physical plant needs with regard to scheduling new construction, rehabilitation and renovation of existing facilities, and minor capital improvements?
