Please try again. Polyuria is a condition in which patients excrete more than 3 liters of urine per day. The urine is nearly colorless, and the specific gravity of such urine is 1.000 to 1.002. Polyuria can be caused by increased water intake due to polydipsia, excessive thirst often associated with diabetes insipidus. Diuretic therapy can also cause polyuria.
