EXPLANATION:
    Nephrotic syndrome is characterized by heavy proteinuria (3500mg/day or greater). The normal reference range of protein is less than 10mg/dL or 150mg/24 hr. Proteinuria results from an increase in the amount of protein filtered and a decrease in the tubular reabsorption ability.
