 EXPLANATION:
    An upper urinary tract infection (or acute pyelonephritis) can be diagnosed by the presence of protein, red blood cells, white blood cells, and nitrite in the chemical urinalysis. In the microscopic examination, WBCs, RBCs, bacteria, casts (WBC, granular, renal cell, waxy), and transitional epithelial cells are typically seen.
