EXPLANATION:
Squamous epithelial cells in small
numbers are non-pathological and are usually indicative of improper collection.
They are pathological only if they are present in large numbers, especially
in sheets. Transitional and renal tubular epithelial cells are never present
through improper collection. Squamous epithelial cells appear long, flat
and irregularly shaped with a small nucleus. They line the distal third
of both the male and female urethra and the vaginal tract.
