Case Study: Female with Painful Urination Answers
2.
The patient's age and gender does play a role in diagnosis of the
disease because this disease is most common in adult females.
This is due to the fact that females have a shorter urethra,
allowing bacteria to enter the genitourinary tract easier. If
treatment is not taken soon enough, the bacteria can make their way
into the renal tubules. In addition, it is easier for women to
introduce bacteria from the anal area into the urinary tract due to improper cleansing and the
close proximity of the urethral opening to the anal opening.
