Swelling of the
interstitum due to edema and inflammation obstructs capillaries and tubules.
This may decrease urine flow which may lead to the formation of casts.
Since there are an abundance of RBCs present in the tubules due to the
infection in the glomerulus, there is a possibility that these RBCs may
become trapped in the cast resulting in a RBC cellular cast.
