Chronic renal failure is a progressive loss of renal function owing to an irreversible and intrinsic renal disease. With chronic renal failure, the glomerular filtration rate slowly, but continuously, decreases due to the kidney's inability to filter plasma. In order for it to be acute renal failure, RBCs and RBC cellular casts would need to be present.
