60th Anniversary Celebration

The Department of Medical Technology celebrated its 60th Anniversary at the Courtyard Marriott in Newark, DE on September 26, 2009. The program was started by Dr. James C. Kakavas within the Department of Biological Sciences in the College of Arts and Science in 1948. The first students began their 12-month internship at Memorial and Delaware Hospitals in 1949. Three women graduated from the Medical Technology program in 1950 with Bachelor of Science degrees.
