National McNair Scholars Research Conference
and Graduate School Fair
Focusing on developing excellence in academia and beyond, the University of Delaware's 9th Annual National McNair Scholars Research Conference offers an opportunity for scholars to experience a simulated professional research conference, as well as an opportunity to network with scholars and faculty from across the country. The conference promises a lively forum for intellectual exchange and debate, as well as an occasion to develop cultural, social, and scholarly excellence.

This year's conference includes a preconference panel and networking mixer.

workshop sessions
Hands-on sessions
will prepare students for the graduate school transition.

Panel
oral sessions
Modeled on
the professional academic meeting style, all oral presenters will
have an opportunity to discuss their research as a member of a panel—a
small, selected group of students who serve as experts on their
area of research.

Scholar
poster session
Designed to
foster one-on-one interaction, the poster session provides an opportunity
for scholars to share the results of their research.

Graduate
school fair and visitation
Take advantage of this opportunity not only to meet
with graduate school representatives at the Graduate
School Fair, but also to visit premier East Coast institutions
in New York City, Philadelphia, Baltimore, and Washington, D.C.,
as well as the University of Delaware itself.

Keynote
speaker
The 2011 keynote speaker will be Freeman A. Hrabowski III, president of the University of Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC).

Social activities
Conference participants will attend the Bill Cosby Comedy Show, Friday, October 14, 8:00 p.m., at UD's Bob Carpenter Center.
