NATIONAL MCNAIR SCHOLARS RESEARCH CONFERENCE AND GRADUATE SCHOOL FAIR 2008

National McNair Scholars Research Conference and Graduate School Fair
October 3-4, 2008
University of Delaware

Focusing on developing excellence in academia and beyond, the University of Delaware's 6th Annual National McNair Scholars Research Conference offers an opportunity for scholars to experience a simulated professional research conference, as well as an opportunity to network with scholars and faculty from across the country. The conference promises a lively forum for intellectual exchange and debate, as well as an occasion to develop cultural, social, and scholarly excellence.

  • Panel oral sessions
Modeled on the professional academic meeting style, all oral presenters will have an opportunity to discuss their research as a member of a panel—a small, selected group of students who serve as experts on their area of research.

  • Exciting cultural events
The second day of conference activities will take place at Winterthur Museum & Country Estate, former home of Henry Francis du Pont of Delaware's industrialist du Pont family. The estate includes 175 period rooms, exhibition galleries, and naturalistic garden, which are open for tours and a variety of programs and special events. The Winterthur collection of antiques and Americana spans two centuries of American decorative arts, from 1640 to 1860.

  • Graduate school fair and visitation
Located near New York City, Philadelphia, Baltimore, and Washington, D.C., the University of Delaware Conference offers an opportunity for attending scholars to visit premier East Coast institutions, including the University of Delaware itself.
