THE Association of Graduate Liberal Studies Programs (AGLSP) has initiated a new annual writing contest for MALS students and recent alumni. Each MALS program can submit two entries to this contest, and this year's contestants from UD are Diana Keegan (MALS 2008) and David Williamson (MALS 2010). Diana's paper, a revision of the MALS thesis she wrote under the guidance of Professor Elaine Safer (English), deals with what she calls "the mythology of the absurd" in the work of Albert Camus. Dave's paper, written for a course with Professor Jim Brophy (History), explores the psychology of Albert Speer, an architect who turned to the service of Adolph Hitler.

And don't forget next year's contest! Next November, we'll be looking for a new set of 4000-word interdisciplinary papers. We'll be in touch with all MALS students and alumni as soon as we receive the contest information.

Many thanks to David Smith, who chaired the MALS Award Committee as it developed procedures for this new contest and selected the UD entries; and to Anne Colwell and Ray Callahan, the other members of the committee. A job well done!
