Current Students:

Museum Studies Certificate (MSST)

In partnership with the Museum Studies program, MALS offers students the opportunity to earn a Certificate in Museum Studies. The Certificate requires twelve credits of work in Museum Studies, six of which count towards the thirty credits required for the MALS degree. The other six are overload credits that count only towards the Cerfiticate.

Students may choose from the following list of three-credit courses:

    • MSST 667: Leadership and Management of Museums
    • MSST 801: Museum Curatorship – Collections Management
    • MSST 803: Museums and Moderns Technology
    • MSST 805: Historical Properties
    • MSST 807: Museum Curatorship – Temporary and Economical Exhibitions
    • MSST 808: Museum Education and Interpretation

Alumni of MALS and Other Graduate Degree Programs:

Advanced Certificate in Liberal Studies (ACLS)

The Master of Arts in Liberal Studies (MALS) program, in association with the office of Professional and Continuing Studies (PCS), offers an Advanced Certificate in Liberal Studies (ACLS). Although the certificate's original purpose was to accommodate MALS alumni who wished to continue taking courses on a not-for-credit basis, anyone who holds a graduate degree, regardless of the field, may apply.
