Faculty Usage
- Must have approval of Dan Rich, Provost, and Maxine Colm, VP Administration, to use online evaluations.
- Approved: course evaluations development team, College of Engineering, School of Education and Nursing
System Availability for Students
- Many CE students and alumni have PINs. If you have CE students
(or alumni) who need PINs, tell them to call 831-2727 or preferably,
go to Student Services Building to set one. This is something
that needs to be done over the phone or in person so we can be sure we are
giving the student, and only that student, his/her PIN. This will open up a world of access and online service to them.
- Tell your students to go to
http://www.udel.edu/course-evals to complete their evaluations between the availability dates provided to you, which are 14 days before the first exam and through midnight the last day of exams. See deadlines on the left.
System Definition
This Course Evaluation system is based on these premises.
- Student access is available to those students officially enrolled in participating course sections.
- Term driven (F W S J).
- Questions are tiered and presented in this order for both instructor and course sections: UD - college - department - instructor
- Instructor evaluations may be used for up to 6 instructors per course section as defined on the bottom left of SIS screen 132 under "Instructor SSN".
- Instructors and administrators may change or edit questions until the day before student access begins.
- Instructors may define evaluations to have one or two sections for instructor or course questions.
- Instructors may define an unlimited number of questions on a evaluation although 20 questions would be consider reasonable (CTE - true?).
- During the window that students may complete evaluations, there will be no changes to the evaluation questions or instructors assigned to that course.
- Student responses are anonymous.
- Instructors may view student responses 15 days after the last exam. Go to the Faculty Course Evaluation website.
- The department owning the course may ask specific department-level
questions. For example, the course evaluation questions for a HIST course
can include History department specific questions.
- Colleges may also add college-level questions.
- The evaluation questions may include University-level questions.
- Only approved administrators/faculty defined in the course evaluation system
have access to the evaluation results. This will include department chairs
and college deans.
- Professional and Continuing Studies (PCS) is classified as a college for
this purpose and may add PCS-level questions. The department owning the
course can also provide department-level questions for PCS sponsored
courses.
- The department chair/college dean have access to the evaluation results for
all courses owned by their respective department/college even if one of the
faculty teaching or co-teaching is from another department/college. The
faculty, chair and dean from the other department/college will not have
online access to the evaluation results. For example, if CIEG 667 is taught
by CIEG and PHYS faculty, the questions used and results collected will be
viewable only by the CIEG department chair/college dean and the individual
CIEG faculty member. However, the faculty or his/her chair from the other
department/college can request a hardcopy printout of the evaluation results
from the CIEG chair/college dean in agreement with the CIEG faculty
co-teaching the course.
- For cross-listed courses, only the primary course
owner can add questions and see all results. The second
department can't. For example, if FREC827 (col=Ag) was
cross-listed with ECON827 (col=B&E) and ECON was the primary
owner of this cross-list, then ECON could add questions and
see results and FREC could not. The faculty can see their own
results.
