Overview: This is a time-dependent linear wave model based on the wave energy equation for a narrow-banded wave field. Wave-current interation with depth-averaged currents is included through the consideration of the conservation of wave equations along with the linear dispersion relation in the presence of currents. The three time-dependent governing equations are solved using finite difference formulations for the spatial derivatives on a regular fixed grid and a high-order time integration scheme. The model domain extends from the shoreline to an arbitrary distance offshore.
Use and initialization of the module:
Variables provided by the wave module: General and local radiation stresses, wave forcing, mass flux, dissipation caused by wave breaking, wave number, peak wave direction, bottom velocity, rms wave height, phase and group velocity of waves, peak period. Though calculated on a 1d profile, all values are provided at every location (x,y) on the 2d bathymetry grid (by assigning the output at each x-location to the corresponding x-locations on every y-gridline in the 2d bathymetry).
Variables required by the wave module: Input spectral file, spectrum.in, with the format described above. All other variables, including bathymetry profile and dimensions, are obtained from the master program.
