INSTRUCTIONS FOR USING SERF IN ITAL250

To access SERF for the first time:
 

·Open up a Web browser, e.g., Netscape or Explorer.

·Go to the following site: 

http://udserf.udel.edu

·Click on the movie icon ticket at the top of your screen (it says “Admit one”).

·Type in the requested information in the boxes:

First name and last name

Ticket (your social security number)

·Click on “submit”

·Choose a user name and password of your choice. Please remember them, because your instructor won’t be able to retrieve them if you forget them.

·If you are registered for other SERF courses, make sure you click on the right course (ITAL250-010) to access it.

To access SERF all subsequent times:

·Type in your user name and password.

·If you are registered for other SERF courses, make sure you click on the right course (ITAL250-010) to access it.

·The class of the day will appear. If you want to go to another class, scroll to the bottom of the screen and click on “Index” to select the class of your choice.

Playing the movie segments with the CD-Rom:

To play a movie, simply click on the camera icon in the syllabus which launches the movie. The first time you launch a movie from the syllabus, your Web browser may ask how you want it to handle this kind of file. Tell your browser to open it (not save it). 

If your browser has trouble finding the movies, scroll down to the OPTIONS grid in the menu at the bottom of the page. In the section on SYSTEM options, click CD-ROM SETUP. Follow the on-screen instructions to set up your CD drive. Make sure you select the correct drive to play the CD-Rom (often D- or E-drive). If you’re not sure which drive the CD-ROM player is, check in My Computer.
