A trail-race festival for runners and walkers of
all
ages and abilities benefiting local homeless shelters. Run one
race,
or two! Run the Trail Dawgs Marathon,
or run the Triple Crown--3 races, the
Half-Marathon, 10K and 5K, all in one morning!
A BIG THANK-YOU TO EVERYONE WHO PARTICIPATED IN THIS
YEAR'S TRIPLE CROWN
Here are RACE RESULTS
for individual races; and
Triple Crown scoring.
Check out the
photos of marathoners and half-marathoners in the creek taken by
Carl Camp.
I'll try to get more pix posted soon.
If you want a certificate for finishing the marathon,
please e-mail me.
Next year will be our 10th anniversary event...mark it on your
calendar: Saturday, April 28, 2007--hope to see you there!
- The
Trail Dawgs Marathon
starts
at 7:30 AM.
(Start together with the half-marathon)

at least 13 water/aid points.
There is no cut-off time for finishing, but water/aid will switch to
self-serve at noon.
Registration:
$40,
includes finisher medal and certificate. Marathon award ceremony
~1PM after the Survivors' BBQ. More
marathon info--please read!.
- Da'
Half-Marathon starts

frolic through WCCSP and White Clay Preserve. Course fords White Clay
Creek at miles 3 and 10. at least 6 water/aid points. Registration:
$25,
includes runnin' dawg mug to the first 100 finishers. Half-marathon
award ceremony ~9:50 AM.
- 10K for Shelter
starts
at 10:00 AM.
This is the second race in Mid-Atlantic
USATF's 2006 Grand Prix trail race series.
A creekside communion with nature; 6.2 miles up the creek
to the PA border and back with just a few hills. 4 water/aid
points.
Registration:
$20
10K award ceremony ~11:30 AM.
-
The Human Race 5K Run/Walk
starts
at 11:15 AM. A
"wasn't my PR" 3.1-mile trail loop within WCCSP's Carpenter Recreation Area;
"flat and fast" except for the rocks, roots, steep hills and muddy
parts.
One water/aid point. Registration:
$15.
5K award ceremony at Survivor's lunch.
- The Triple-Crown
3-race combo is like a big steamin' platter of scrapple with
all kinds of fun stuff in it! A half-marathon for distance,
a 10K for some up-tempo, and a 5K just for laughs = 22.4 miles all
in one morning!
Registration: $45/individual
(run 'em all yourself!); $50/team (2 or 3 runners, one
runner/race), includes
finisher's mug. The Triple Crown is scored by sum of finish
places (not combined times) among TC runners only--low sum wins
(tie-breaker rule:
faster half-marathon finish wins). Please note the time intervals
between starts; if you finish one race after the next race has already
started, no problem--just grab some refreshments and head out
again! The objective is to finish!
If you miss an earlier award ceremony, we'll announce unclaimed
1/2-marathon
and 10K medals after the 5K. Triple Crown award ceremony at noon.
All races start and finish at
the pavilion at the W.S. Carpenter Rec. Area of White Clay Creek State
Park.
These courses haven't been certified by anybody, but we re-measured 'em
on 4/9/06 and they're at least the distance we advertise.
There is race-day registration for all races, but we will run
out of shirts early.
This event happens rain or
shine;
last year it was a mudbath--be prepared for
anything!
Directions: Take I-95 to Delaware Exit 1 (896N); stay on
Rt. 896 north through downtown Newark.
About 2 miles north of town, past Wedgewood Road, the
W.S. Carpenter Rec. Area entrance is the next right off Rt. 896.
The park has toilets, phone, covered pavilion, picnic tables,
kids' playground,
plenty of parking....
All races start and finish by the pavilion. Bring lawn chairs
to relax and enjoy the day!

Premiums and emoluments: Finisher medals for all marathon
survivors. Commemorative
runnin' dawg coffee mug for Triple-Crown finishers and
first 100 half-marathon finishers. Lots of free post-race
refreshments plus a Survivors' BBQ for all participants
and volunteers starting at noon.
(Suggestion: bring lawn chairs--they're more
comfortable than the picnic benches!)
Medals: M&F overall and master (40+) winners plus 1st
places in 10-year age-groups for each of five events (marathon, half, 10K,
5K and Triple Crown); 1st place open, women, master and corporate Triple
Crown teams; 1st place 5K walkers ... 90+ medal categories in all.
Note: Your registration does not
include a T-shirt (you probably have enough already), but runners who
pre-register can order cool
runnin' dawg t-shirts for $10 each. Shirt orders should
be submitted with your registration; we will only have a few extra
shirts to sell on race day.
These courses are not USATF
certified distances, but we guarantee at least the mileage promised.
