The knee-humpin' Trail Dawgs are at it again... panting and slobbering
and stomping all over the beautiful trails of Maryland's Fair Hill Natural Area.

For the sixth straight year the Trail Dawgs are puttin' on their annual Dead-of-Winter

50K PHUNT Run

a standard fat-ass format trail run: no fee, no frills, no wimps, no whining!

NEW FOR 2009: REGISTER ONLINE (no charge!) at raceit.com

Join the Dawgs on Saturday, January 3rd, 2009 for an unofficial, unsanctioned, unapproved 31-mile jaunt at Maryland's Fair Hill Natural Area. The course will be a single loop with identified cut-off points for runners who want a marathon or 20K distance.

The start/finish is at the Appleton Road SOUTH parking lot 0.5 miles south of the Rt. 273/Appleton Rd. intersection (blinking light), about 3 miles west of Newark, DE.

Race start will be 9AM. Pre-race orientation will be at 8:45AM.

You will truly enjoy freezin' your patoot on a 31 mile nature jaunt over hilly single-track trail with no problematic stream crossings, and just a teensy bit of rocky stuff to satisfy the trail-running purist. We haven't precisely measured the distance, but it's 95% trail with something like 3,000 ft. of aggregate vertical climb and has some super views, and anyone who doesn't think the course is long enough is welcome to run it a second time at no extra charge. This run is meant for experienced trail runners, but anyone with marathon experience who wants to try an ultra distance and promises not to whine if they get tired and dirty is welcome. We will have snack/water refill stations. The course will be marked with whatever the hell we feel like marking it with. We hope to have maps and course instructions. Maybe we'll give out copies!

COST: We're collecting $0, zero, zip, nada. You should probably pay the park's nominal parking fee however. Additional donations to defray our costs will be graciously accepted, with leftover monies donated to the Pack and park. All participants are encouraged to bring a snack item for the self-serve aid station or the post race feed.

AWARDS? Finishers will be awarded post-race rehydration, hot dogs, soup and other stuff either at the finish or nearby, depending on the weather and who shows up.

And this year we're offering registered runners the opportunity to purchase a warm and incredibly stylish Trail Dawgs hat complete with the ultra-cool Trail Dawg logo, all for the low low price of twenty bucks.

This is an informal fun run, completely free. You participate strictly at your own risk, and are solely responsible for your own safety.  To participate, you must complete the online waiver stating that, plain and simple, if you get lost, hurt and/or killed, it will be solely your own fault and you're not going to be a candy-ass about and try to sue or blame anybody else.
