Thought i'd check in a nd let you know that I ran my first Hong Kong trail race on Sunday.  Hardest race I've done, to date.  They call it a half-marathon, and I'm sure that in terms of effort, it's more difficult than a traditional half.  It was really only 14.3k, though.  Trails in Hong Kong go straight up and straight down.  I figure total elevation gain was probably >3000 ft with an equal descent.  The initial climb covers about 1200 ft in the first 2k and then right back down to sea level.

My blazing fast 14 min/mile pace was good enough for 16th place overall out of 100 or so.  That works out to be 2:08:33.  To put that into perspective, I ran the Mt. Penn mudfest (15k) this year in 1:16 and the Triple crown half in 1:50.  And I think I'm in better shape now.

So trail running is alive and well here, although the nature of the trail is a little different from Delaware.

Anyway, greetings from Hong Kong.  If anybody ever wants to come run a race, drop me an email!  Here's the website of the race series: http://www.seyonasia.com/competitions.html  Also check out the supposedly world-famous 100k Trailwalker event:
