Another bitchin' Trail Dawgs event
in cooperation with Bad Dog Farm...

Phil & Hunt's Ultra Phrolic (PHUP) 50K Run
9 AM Saturday January 8, 2005 -- Fair Hill, MD
No Fee, No Frills, No Wimps, No Whining!

WHO: Anybody who likes to run lots of trails

WHAT: Join the Dawgs on an unofficial, unsanctioned, unapproved ~31 mile trail run at Maryland's Fair Hill Recreation area. A 2+ loop course, with half and full marathon options.

WHEN: Saturday, Jan 8, 2005 starting at 9 AM. Prerace orientation at 8:45 AM.

WHERE: Start/finish is at the Appleton Road north parking lot, one mile north of intersection with Rt. 273, about four miles northwest of Newark, DE.

WHY: Because you're the sort of person who will truly enjoy a frigid foolish 31 mile nature jaunt. The course is 2 half marathon loops and one additional 5 mile loop, mostly hilly, with no problematic stream crossings, single-track trail and just enough selective rocky gnarly stuff to satisfy the purist. We haven't precisely measured the distance, but it's 95% trail with over a 3,000 ft. aggregate vertical, and has some super views! This run is meant for experienced trail runners, but anyone with marathon experience who wants to try an ultra distance and promises not to whine if they end up feeling like a PHUPped-up pup is welcome. We will try to have one or two snack/water refill stations on the course. The course follows blazed park trails and therefore will have VERY limited additional markings, unless we decide to include some turn markings at questionable corners. Outline maps and a turn sheet will be provided.

COST: $0, zero, zip, nada. But donations to defray costs will be accepted, with leftover monies donated to the Pack and park. All participants are asked to bring a snack item for snack/water refill station, or the post race feed

Awards? Maybe some "ice sculpture!" We are planning on having post-race hot dogs and other stuff at the finish or nearby, depending on who shows up.
