A large group assembled
in the business front of Aztec Copies and the meeting began at approximately
4:55 as our hosts were anxious and excited to begin telling us about
this company. Our group was treated to a presentation/discussion
about the business and its employees, its use of technology, its
equipment and its services to the public. Aztec is a full service
copy business which does all type of copying services. After viewing
this part of the business, Ed took us into the "art" section
of the business. Here, they do reproduction artwork for artists
from across the northeast. One of the services that Aztec provides
is that it reproduces artwork for artists that is of the calibre
that the copies can be matted, framed, and sold as numbered prints.
Ed described the "route" that a piece of artwork takes
through his equipment, starting on his scanner (approximate value:
$10,000) until it is printed on a large printer that can print on
all types of art stock. Ed prides himself on doing all types of
jobs and feels that customer service, and job turnaround time, are
critical to his business.

The group adjourned to
a local restaurant for the remainder of the meeting. Thanks to Joyce
Nerlinger for arranging this field trip for the group.
