Wendy Modzelewski opened the meeting at 5:15 PM with a review of the minutes from the July 12th meeting. No formal August meeting was held because of the ITUG picnic.

Agenda items were covered as follows:

  • Introductions of members attending

  • Current Initiatives open to members
    • Technews is an informational listserv. Messages related to technology in Delaware and across the country are posted along with current events, grant opportunities, technology projects, educational websites, and Delaware Instructional Technology Conference updates. If you would like to subscribe to this list, send a message to majordomo@otma1.state.de.us with a message subscribe technews

    • On-Line Course Pilot - DCET is piloting two courses through Connected University. They have been approved for inservice credit. There is no cost to participate in this pilot. Information can be found on the pilot website at www.dcet.k12.de.us/courses.html. Deadline is October 1, 2000.

    • Classroom Connect 30-Day Free Trial - If you are interested in a 30-day free trial membership to Connected University and Classroom Today (or both) send an email to rsparke@classroom.com. Include your name, email address, school district, school name, title, mailing address and school telephone number.

    • Membership Drive - we are always looking for new members. Please talk about ITUG in your school. If you would like a sign you can post in your school, please visit the ITUG website at www.udel.edu/itug and print one out. They are available in Word or RTF format.

  • DCET Traveling Lab - a preview of the lab was given. It consists of eight Apple iBooks, a wireless Airport communication device, and an HP color printer. The lab can be booked for up to two weeks at a time in one school. It will be delivered and comes with staff development and consulting time as needed. If you are interested in booking the lab, contact Wendy Modzelewski at DCET at wmod@dcet.k12.de.us.

  • The educational portion of the meeting included member presentations on Web Pages for Communication. A review of Lightspan, Schoolnotes, My School Online, and Thinkwave were presented along with a review of free web space. These notes are posted separately from the minutes and are designed to give you a working document that you can print and share.

  • The next meeting will be held on Thursday, October 12th. The topic will be "How do I use my One Computer? " Presenters are needed!
