As of February 18, 2010, Information Technologies knows of 24 twitter feeds from University of Delaware departments, centers, or affiliated units. Twitter, an Internet “micro-blogging” service that allows updates of up to 140 characters, is being used more frequently by businesses, universities, news sources, and government agencies to provide quick newsflashes and pointers to more detailed information.

At UD, some colleges are using twitter as part of their outreach effort; some departments are using it to send quick updates to students, alumni, and potential students; and some units are using it to publish news about the University. Sample UD twitter feeds:

  • UDailyEvents: UDaily reminders about events on campus  (Office of Communication and Marketing)
  • UDAdmissions: UD Admissions
  • UDcanr: College of Agriculture and Natural Resources
  • UDcareers: Career Services
  • DESeaGrant: "Promotes conservation and management of marine and coastal resources through research, education, and outreach." (College of Earth, Ocean, and Environment)
  • UDBlueHens: University of Delaware Athletics
  • UDelCOTW: Computer Security--"Follow the Code of the Web!" (Information Technologies)
