Mac OS X Mail junk mail filtering (Tiger 10.4.x)

The following instructions will help you get the most use from Mac OS X Mail's junk filtering. By default, Mac OS X Mail will attempt to identify and label incoming junk mail. To enhance the accuracy of junk filtering, you must help Mail identify junk messages during your initial use.

  1. To begin, add the Junk icon to your toolbar if it's not there already:
    1. From the View menu, click Customize Toolbar.
    2. Drag the Junk icon to your toolbar, then click Done.
  2. To identify a "junk" message, choose the message, then click the Junk icon in the toolbar. If a message has been incorrectly identified as junk, select the message and click the Not Junk icon.

After Mac OS X Mail starts to identify junk mail appropriately, you can choose to automatically move the messages it marks as junk to your junk mailbox on the UD server:
    1. From the Mail menu, click Preferences. Click the Junk Mail icon.
