Exchange 2010: Hand-held Devices

When you set up your email account using a mobile phone, you may not see all the setting options listed below. If, after entering the specified information you cannot connect, look for an Advanced Settings option where it may be possible to enter the additional required information.


iPhone and iPad Settings

  1. Tap the Settings icon on the device.
  2. Choose Mail, Contacts, Calendars.
  3. Choose Add Account.
  4. Choose Microsoft Exchange.
  5. In the email field, type <Your UDelNet ID>@win.udel.edu
  6. In the domain field, type win.udel.edu
  7. In the username field, type <Your UDelNet ID>.
  8. In the password field, type your UDelNet password.
  9. Tap Next.
  10. Tap Continue at any warnings about server security.
  11. In the server field, type: owa.win.udel.edu
  12. Tap Next to complete.

Android Settings

  1. Choose Settings.
  2. Choose Accounts and Sync.
  3. Choose Add Account.
  4. Choose Corporate.
  5. Type your email address as <Your UDelNet ID>@win.udel.edu
  6. Type your UDelNet password.
  7. Choose Next.
  8. Under Domain\username, type win\username
  9. Under Server, type owa.win.udel.edu
  10. Choose Use secure connection.
  11. A Remote Security Administration box appears with the text: The server owa.win.udel.edu requires that you allow it to remotely control some security features of your phone. Do you wish to finish setting up this account?
  12. Choose OK.
  13. Choose options for sync amounts and notification.
  14. Choose Next.
  15. Give the account a name. For example, "Win Exchange".
  16. Choose Done.

BlackBerry Settings

Steps for migrating or setting up a BlackBerry

  1. Send an email to consult@udel.edu requesting an account on the WIN BES server. 
  2. When the request for an account has been processed, you will receive an email (on WIN) with the BES activation password, which is active for 48 hours.
  3. Back up any personal data not part of Exchange by connecting the device to the computer using BlackBerry Desktop Software.

  4. Perform an email and contacts wipe:
    • Choose the Menu icon.
    • Choose the Options icon.
    • Choose Security Options.
    • Choose Security Wipe.
    • Place a check mark next to Emails contacts etc.
    • Type   blackberry   to confirm the device wipe.
    • Choose Wipe.

  5. Create the WIN BES connection:
    • Choose the Menu icon.
    • Choose the Setup icon.
    • Choose the Setup Wizard icon.
    • Choose to connect to the Internet.
    • Choose Next approximately 10 times until Email Setup is displayed.
    • Choose Email Setup.
    • Choose I want to use a work email account with a BlackBerry Enterprise Server, and then choose Next.
    • Choose Yes to the activation password question, and then choose Next.
      • Type your email address as <Your UDelNet ID>@win.udel.edu
      • Type the BES activation password.
      • Leave the Activation Server Address field blank.
      • Leave the PIN as is.
      • Select the Menu icon and then choose Activate.
    • After a few moments the BlackBerry should connect to the WIN BlackBerry server.
    • Watch your Outlook email for a message from the BES to verify a connection. That message is then removed by the BES server and the BlackBerry initializes services--which may take some time. After the services are initialized, the BlackBerry is ready.

  6. Within email on the BlackBerry, choose Options.
  7. Choose Email Reconciliation.
  8. Change Handheld to Handheld & Mailbox.
  9. Choose Options.
  10. Choose Save.

IMAP Settings

  1. Incoming mail server: owa.win.udel.edu
  2. Incoming mail server: SSL
  3. Use Port: 993
  4. Outgoing mail server: mail.udel.edu
  5. Port: 25
