Exchange 2010: Desktop Client Setup

Redirect your email to Exchange

  1. Log in to the network page.
  2. Choose Forward your email to a non-UD account.
  3. Enter your Exchange email account (e.g., udelnetid@win.udel.edu).
  4. Click Submit.

Outlook for Windows

  1. Add  a new profile: 
    • Close Outlook.
    • Open the Control Panel.
    • Click the Mail icon.
    • Click Show Profiles.
    • Click Add.
    • Type in a name for the profile.
    • Click Next.
  2. Type your email address in as udelnetid@win.udel.edu
  3. Click Next.
  4. Provide your password when prompted. You may need to enter it twice.
  5. Click Done.
  6. Go back into the Properties of the new profile.
  7. Select the Email Accounts button.
  8. Highlight Exchange account and select Change.
  9. Uncheck Use Cached Exchange Mode.
  10. Select Next.
  11. Click Finish.

Thunderbird

  1. From the Tools menu, click Account Settings.
  2. Click the Account Actions button in the bottom-left corner of the window.
  3. Click Add Mail Account.
  4. Type your name, email address (i.e., UDelNetID@win.udel.edu), and password in the appropriate fields.
  5. If Remember password has a check mark in front of it, click to remove it.
  6. Click Continue.
  7. Click the Manual Configuration button. Enter/choose the following settings for the Incoming and Outgoing servers:
    1. Incoming IMAP mail server: owa.win.udel.edu
      1. Port: 993
      2. SSL: SSL/TLS
      3. Authentication: NTLM
    2. Outgoing mail server: mail.udel.edu
      1. Port: 25
      2. SSL: STARTTLS
      3. Authentication: No Authentication
  8. Click Create Account.
  9. Click OK.

To view additional folders, follow these steps:

  1. Click on the name of the account (i.e., UDelNetID@win.udel.edu).
  2. Under the Advaced Features section of the window, click Manage Folder Subscriptions.
  3. Check the names of the folders you wish to see.
  4. Click Subscribe.
  5. Click OK.

The folders you chose should now appear in the folder pane.

Note: We do not recommend that you click on Contacts or Calendar as these are Exchange-specific folders.


Mac Mail

  • Open Mail.
  • Press COMMAND - , simultaneously.
  • Click the Accounts tab.
  • Click Add account.
  • Full Name: Type your name.
  • EMail: udelnetid@win.udel.edu
  • Type your Password.
  • Click Continue.
  • Done.

Mac Outlook

  • Press COMMAND - , simultaneously.
  • Click Accounts.
  • Click + to add Exchange.
  • EMail: udelnetid@win.udel.edu
  • Method: Username and Password.
  • Username: win\udelnetid
  • Password.
  • Place a checkmark in the check box for Configure Automatically.
  • Click Add account.
  • Click Done.

Direct Settings

  1. Server: owa.win.udel.edu and uncheck Use Cached Exchange Mode.
  2. Name: udelnetid@win.udel.edu
  3. Connection:  Connect to Microsoft Exchange using HTTP.
  4. Proxy Settings:
  • URL: https://owa.win.udel.edu
  • Connect using SSL only - check
  • Only with checked
  • msstd:owa.win.udel.edu
  • On fast: http first, then tcpip - checked
  • On slow: http first, then tcpip - checked
  1. Click Basic Authentication.

IMAP Settings

  1. Incoming mail server: owa.win.udel.edu
  2. Incoming mail server uses: SSL.
  3. Use Port: 993.
  4. Outgoing mail server: mail.udel.edu
  5. Port: 25.
