Printing from Pine

You can print messages from Pine. However, you must first configure Pine to use the printer to which you want your messages printed.

NOTE

The default printer for the Pine Mail program is a laser printer in Smith Hall. If you choose to use this printer, you can pick up your output in Smith Hall (I/O). You can, however, change the default printer to one attached to your computer.

Configuring printer settings

NOTE

To change the default printer setting so that you can print to the printer attached to your computer, you must have the Secure Shell (SSH) program installed on your computer. Both on- and off-campus students can get a free copy of the Secure Shell (SSH) program from the UDeploy Web site.

To change the default settings for your printer, follow these steps:

  1. At the Main Menu window, press S to choose Setup.
  2. Press P to choose Printer.
  3. Press the ARROW key(s) to highlight your choice. If you want to use the printer connected to your computer, select attached-to-ansi.
  4. Press S to select the option you've highlighted.
  5. Press E to select Exit Setup.
  6. Press Y to select Yes. At the bottom of the screen, you should see the following program message: Configuration changes saved
