McAfee VirusScan: disable VShield (Windows)
If you've installed VirusScan and need to run Scandisk or Disk Defragmenter, or if you are installing software that requires you to disable anti-virus software, follow these instructions.
- Right-click the VShield icon in the
System Tray (in the lower-right corner
of your screen), as shown in the
following graphic:
- Click VirusScan Console.
- Right-click Access Protection and choose Disable.
- Right-click On-Access Scanner and choose Disable.
- After running Scandisk or Disk Defragmenter, or after installing other software, re-enable VShield by enabling On-Access scanner and Access Protection.
