Grand Opening Celebration and Dedication

The Interdisciplinary Science and Engineering Laboratory (ISE Lab) celebrated its grand opening on October 17, 2013.

The day's festivities featured a conversation with KR Sridhar, Principal Co-founder and Chief Executive Officer of Bloom Energy. He sat down with Nancy Karibjanian, adjunct faculty member in the Department of Communication, to share his experiences and insights on translating innovation and research into solving real-world problems—a theme very much aligned with the goals of the ISE Lab.

Following this special feature, guests gathered for a ribbon-cutting ceremony  in the ISE Lab courtyard.  As he welcomed the several hundred guests , President Patrick Harker noted, "The future is focused on students experiencing education in action. This building is an investment in them, in you, in this incredible community of people, everyone here right now and many more who aren’t, who’ve signed on to change the world with us." Other speakers at the ceremony included Provost Domenico Grasso and Governor Jack Markell, who joined President Harker and other dignitaries to cut the official ribbon for the building.

The celebration ended with a reception and tours of the ISE Lab, hosted by the many faculty and students learning and working in the building.
