Fall 08 - ART 204 Media / Design / Culture

Students created a "Flash Mob" by putting a red carpet outside of Kirkbride Hall and videotaping students as they walked across it. They created an atmosphere of celebrity by identifying each person as someone well-known in popular culture.

The project was an exercise in "participatory culture," where people make or manipulate popular culture as a creative activity instead of remaining passive receivers.
