ITUE 10th Anniversary Symposium

Technology and Learning:
E-WAVE on Wikis

workshop facilitated by Dicke Selfe, Mark Serva, and Paul Hyde
June 14, 2007
9:00am - noon
Student Multimedia Design Center, Morris Library

The object of the workshop will be to illustrate how, in a wiki environment, teachers can encourage students to create electronic written, aural, and visual expressions (E-WAVE) for a variety of clients. Those clients can vary widely: the professor of the course, not-for-profit organizations, or academic advisors in the student's major. We'll begin by demonstrating multimodal compositions by students from across the curriculum and then quickly move into a hands-on workshop where each participant develops a controlled wiki space for a class of their choice. Participants will be encouraged to bring web images, written materials, or links to audio and video clips to use on their site. The session will conclude with a discussion about privacy, civic participation, copyright licenses, interactivity, alternative technologies.
