Chris Anson, North Carolina State University (biosketch)
This workshop focuses on ways to enhance learning and problem solving through integrating writing and communication activities into your courses. Prof. Anson will lead participants through cases to highlight the ways that students can be engaged with learning while naturally developing those communication outcomes we all desire. We will pay special attention to designing cases that naturally avoid the problems of plagiarism that afflict many typical writing and research assignments.

  The Ultimate PBL Classroom
James Hoffman, UD Psychology
'Experience it yourself' in UD's newest PBL classroom. Students in a statistics course discover the principles of data analysis by grappling with real data sets that are interesting and topical. Group problem solving takes place in a unique classroom which provides each team with a large display and a wireless keyboard to conduct analyses. Participants will experience an introductory lesson in using Fathom, a user-friendly and graphically oriented statistics tool.
