Preliminary program for Summer'99

This five-day session will demonstrate problem-based learning (PBL) and model ways that PBL and other active learning strategies can be used effectively in all disciplines, in upper and lower division courses, and in all size classes. Participants will learn how to integrate Internet resources into their courses and use technology effectively in active, group-based learning.

Morning sessions will focus on effective ways of using active learning, particularly problem-based learning, and developing materials and problems appropriate for use in groups. In the afternoon sessions, participants will have the opportunity to develop their skills in using Internet resources in their courses.

This workshop is sponsored by the Institute for Transforming Undergraduate Education, the National Science Foundation Division of Undergraduate Education, The Pew Charitable Trusts, and the Mathematics & Science Education Resource Center.

A limited number of faculty from other colleges and universities are invited to attend this five day workshop. Visiting faculty are limited to five from each institution. Registration cost is $350/ person which includes instruction, materials, and refreshment breaks. Participants are responible for their own transportation, meals, and accommodations; you may refer to an online Visitor's Guide for information.
