The University Logo
The University's visual
identity consists of the words University of Delaware with interlocking
initial capital U and D. It brings together, in a single distinctive
design, the University's 250-year tradition of excellence. It is designed
for versatility, and can be seen on everything from business cards to the
floor of the new Bob Carpenter Center. Working together, the University
community can use the logo to project a consistent, quality image to our
various constituencies.
The Publications Office is here to help you do
just that in a uniform way. Contact the Publications Office for any help
you may need using the logo (831-2144 or shenkle@strauss.udel.edu).
The coat-of-arms, or shield, may appear to
the left of the logo, as it does on University letterhead. When
reproduced at smaller sizes, the shield should be omitted to eliminate
loss of detail. The logo may be reproduced in its entirety, but the
interlocking UD is a discrete element that may appear alone.
General Rules
Here are a few general rules to follow when
using the logo:
- Please consider the particular usage to which
you are putting the logo and select a size and placement appropriate to
that use.
- The logo is a mark of identification, not an
illustration. Please do not use it as the focal art for a document.
Rather, consider using it as an identifying mark along with other
illustrative material appropriate to your document, either at the top or
bottom of your home page.
- The logo is a free-standing design,
and may be used in publications set in any typeface or any design style.
Do not be afraid to use it.
