Spring 2013-Fall 2013
Deadline: November 5, 2012
Notification: December 7, 2012

The IHRC invites proposals from faculty representing two or more departments to pursue either of the following interdisciplinary teaching opportunities:

  • "Integrated Semesters" grants support students' co-enrollment in two 3-credit courses and the faculty members’ collaboration in coordinating special events (e.g., on-campus speakers or film viewings, off-campus research-oriented field trips or tours of exhibits, service-learning or community-based activities, alternative spring break experiences).
  • “Interdisciplinary Dialogues” grants support faculty from different departments teaching a single course together, and provide funding for special events (e.g., on-campus speakers or film viewings, off-campus research-oriented field trips or tours of exhibits, service-learning or community-based activities, alternative spring break experiences).

Eligibility: At least one of the faculty members must be a humanities faculty member in the College of Arts & Sciences.

Preference will be given to proposals that take advantage of unique resources on campus and in the region and that support UD’s Path to Prominence core values and milestones.

Terms and Responsibilities: In addition to activities for enrolled students, applications must include at least one public event or performance on campus. This will be open to, and appropriate for, the general public and/or faculty and students at other colleges and universities.

Funding and Budget: A detailed budget must be included with each application. Grants will not cover the cost of course release. Workload assignment adjustments must be approved and, if necessary, funded by the home department(s). Stipends will not be provided for course development. Funding will not generally exceed $5,000. Funding will be available as early as January 1, 2013.

Applications: Applications will be accepted until 5 p.m. on November 5, 2012. Proposals must be submitted electronically as a single PDF file.
