Interests and activities:
After receiving my M.S. in the HDFS department, I worked with children in hospitals as a child life therapist, at Head Start as a Family Service Worker, in Scotland as a volunteer with children with disabilities, and as a toddler teacher and parent educator in a center for adolescent parents. Since completing my doctorate in the IFS department in 2002, I have spent much of my time supporting, advising and supervising teacher candidates and student teachers in the Early Childhood Education major. I enjoy working with seniors as they take what they have learned and prepare to enter the teaching field or to go on to graduate school. My research has looked at the interactions of children with and without disabilities in early childhood classrooms. I am also completing some research on how young children understand and cope with death and loss.

Currently, I serve as the Undergraduate Coordinator for the HDFS department. In this role, I advise and support students in both the Early Childhood Education and Human Services majors. I also meet with prospective students, both those in high school and those thinking of transferring into one of the HDFS department's majors.
