Dr Klinzing received her B.S. from Clarion University and M.Ed. from Penn State in Elementary Education. In 1970, she received her Ph.D. in Child Development and Family Relationships from Penn State University.

Her areas of scholarship are medical communication, hospitalized children, and parenting. She teaches the introductory child development course, a course on the hospitalized child, and a course on parenting through the life span.

Dr. Klinzing has received numerous awards for her teaching and advising. She is a Certified Child Life Specialist (C.C.L.S.) and is the unofficial advisor to students interested in becoming child life specialists. From 1993 to 1997, Dr. Klinzing served as Dean of the College of Human Resources. Dr. Klinzing enjoys the beach, her family, interacting with friends and having parties.
