Interests and Activities:

As a member of the Individual and Family Studies faculty, I teach undergraduate and graduate courses in early childhood and early childhood special education. I also teach courses about disabilities across the life span and their impact on families. Finally, I also teach courses regarding technology and how it can be used with very young children with disabilities.

My research interests reflect my teaching. I conduct qualitative research with families from lower socioeconomic backgrounds to collect their perceptions of early intervention services. I also conduct research regarding teacher and professional preparation to work with young children with disabilities. In my role as Director of the Center for Disabilities Studies, I assist with program evaluation research. I am interested in collaborating around the issues of early childhood services for children with and without disabilities, families and disabilities, the use of technology with individuals with disabilities, and the impact of disabilities on all systems.
