Prior to returning to the University in 1989 as an Assistant Dean in the former College of Human Resources, I worked as a Program Developer at the YWCA, a Recruiter/Counselor for Talent Search (an educational opportunity program), and an Instructor at Salem (NJ) Community College. I earned my undergraduate degree in Sociology from UD, my master's in Human Behavior and Development from Drexel University (Philadelphia) and my Ed.D. in Educational Leadership at UD. Although the degrees appear rather disparate, each has provided me with insights that have enabled me to be more effective in my quest to help students achieve their academic and professional goals. I serve and have served as a board member in several community-based organizations. My research interest is related primarily to the value of service-learning in an academic context.

In my spare time, I enjoy traveling, especially to the Caribbean, and lighthouse hunting. I have been very fortunate to have had the opportunity to combine my love of travel with my passion for teaching in my role as faculty director for study abroad trips to South Africa and Barbados - which contributed my interest in studying the reciprocal benefit as well as the transformational impact of international service-learning.
