Letter to the Department of Homeland Security Regarding SEVIS Fees, September 2, 2003

Seven American educational organizations express concern to DHS Under-Secretary Asa Hutchinson regarding the proposal to have international students and exchange visitors pay the SEVIS fee by using a credit card on the Internet or by sending a check drawn on a U.S. bank. In order to reduce delays in the visa process, it is suggested that the fee be collected from international students and exchange visitors the same way other visa application fees are handled.
