There are three things you need to do to customize the template for your department.

1. Change the line below so that the number "4321" is your department ID number.

2. Make sure that the relative file path is correct -- "../../includes/"

3. Make sure that the file permissions for your article web pages are always set to 775 (-rwxrwxr-x).

There is a list of the news server-side includes at the bottom of the page.

For files on a department owned server
Server-side includes may be used on Copland, but they are not allowed on all servers. Talk to your server administrator if you have questions.

Your server-side include file must be on the same server as your articles. Follow the steps below to copy your server-side include file from Copland. You will need to remember to update your copy of the server-side include file every time your newsletter is updated. The news articles presented in your server-side include will not be automatically updated.

• Click on your newsletter's link in the list below.

• Save the page to your hard drive.

• In Netscape Navigator, choose "Save Page As..." from the "File" menu and make sure that "Save as type" is set to "Web Page, HTML only".

• In Internet Explorer, choose "Save As..." from the "File" menu and make sure that "Save as type" is set to "Web Page, HTML only".

• Make sure that you keep the same file name when saving. If you change the file name, then you will need to update the file name on the template. You will also need to remember the new name the next time you update the include file.

• FTP this file to your server. See the IT Help Center for more information.

• You will need to go through these same steps every time your newsletter is updated.

Make these changes to customize the template for your department.
