| DEFAULT NEWS ARTICLE |

The Default News Article is only displayed if no other articles are available. Once your newsletter has been set-up, you may never need to use the Default News Article, but it is important to customize these settings just in case.

On the Add a New Article form: |
 Article title: Title as it will be displayed in the newsletter. |
| Article URL: Web site address of the article. Should start with "http://" |

You create the article web page and keep it in your department web site directory. The UD Connections newsletter will link to your article web page.

| Start date: & Start time: Date and time the article will be published. Defaults to current date/time. |
| End date: & End time: Date and time the article will be expired. Leave blank to make infinite. |
| Order: Set to "Top" |
On the Provide Feature Detail form: |
| Image URL: Web site address of the image. Should start with "http://" |

Keep the images associated with your article in your department web site directory. The UD Connections newsletter will link to your image.

| Image width: Width of your image in pixels. Maximum width is 160 pixels. |
| Image height: Height of your image in pixels. |
| Background color: Background color of the box if the Default News Article is used as a Featured Article, What's Happening Feature, or Special Feature. Should be a hexadecimal number. (example #000000) Color chart including hexadecimal values. |

The color for text in these boxes is always black. Aim to select a background color that provides sufficient contrast with the text color.
Be aware that colors may appear darker or lighter on different monitors. It is a good idea to view your newsletter from several computers to make sure the colors you choose, display the way you intend. It is also important to note that while very bright or intense colors grab the users attention, they can also bother people eyes; therefore, they are not always appropriate for areas where the audience is expected to read text.
If needed, you can use the Manage Current Articles page to change your color settings.
