The University of Delaware Ice Skating Science Development
Center offers a comprehensive summer training program that incorporates
off-ice strength and conditioning along with intensive on-ice training.
Coaching is available in Freestyle, Moves in the Field, Pairs, Dance,
Choreography and Stroking from our large staff of highly qualified
coaches. The daily schedule consists of Freestyle, Pairs and Dance
sessions. All Freestyle sessions are divided into three levels:
Low (Pre-Preliminary - Pre- Juvenile), Medium
(Juvenile- Intermediate), and High (Novice - Senior),
accompanied by off-ice dance and strength training. Lift classes
are also offered.
Elite sessions are offered to skaters at the
National level who have been selected to compete Internationally
for the current competitive season.
The first two weeks (June 2 - June 13) the Training
Center will follow a modified Winter 2007-2008 schedule. There
is a separate registration form for weeks 1 and 2. The
week of August 18- 22 will be a ticket only week, and the schedule
for ice time will be available in the lobby of the Fred Rust Arena.
There will be no pre-registration for week 12; availability is strictly
first come, first served.
The 2008 Summer schedule will begin June 16
and will continue through August 15.
Applications will be accepted on a first come, first
served basis and will be processed in the order they are received. It
is recommended you send your applications as soon as possible, as
there is no guarantee on any sessions that are requested.
Ice Fees
Weeks 1 and 2 (June 2- June 13, 2008): $180
per week (Monday - Friday)

- » One off-ice conditioning session per day (Monday - Friday)
- » Additional sessions can be purchased on a weekly basis
at a rate of $62.50 per week.
- » Walk-on tickets are available for $13 per session.
Weeks 3-11 (June 16 - August 22, 2008) $220
per week (Monday - Friday)
- » Three pre-registered on-ice sessions per day (Monday

- » One pre-registered off-ice dance session per day (Monday
- Thursday)
- » One pre-registered off-ice conditioning session per day
(Monday - Friday)
- » Additional sessions can be purchased on a weekly basis
at a rate of $62.50 per week.

Summer Training Center Housing Program
The University offers resident hall living for those
athletes attending the summer school. Trained counselors are on
duty 24 hours a day. The residence hall for skaters features air-conditioned
rooms, controlled access entrance and a T.V. lounge exclusively
for skaters' use. Transportation is provided to training facilities.
Housing & Food service is only available for
weeks 5- 9 (June 29- August 1).
Fee: $425.00 per week
Includes: Housing for seven days
(Sunday through Saturday) and up to $100 cash value to spend per
week on breakfast, lunch and dinner and snacks in any University
dining facility (i.e., Figure Ate snack bar, fast food restaurant
or cafeteria). Cash value is NOT cumulative and is non-
refundable.
Test Session Dates

Test sessions are held by the University of Delaware
Figure Skating Club. Applications can be found in the Fred Rust
Arena. On Test Session days, there are modified on-ice and off-ice
schedules. Please check the lobby of the Rust Arena for schedules.
Payment
$220 or 50% (whichever is greater) of ALL
FEES must accompany the application, with the balance due
before arrival, or the application will be returned or ice will
be cancelled.
There will be no special packages, rebates, substitutions
or make-ups for missed sessions (including test session dates and
competitions).
If a refund is necessary for medical reasons, the
injury/illness must have a duration of at least two weeks.
There will be a $25 charge for each change made after
reservations are confirmed and schedule changes are subject to availability.
An administrative fee of $50 is assessed for all cancellations
prior to May 1, 2008. After May 1, those who cancel
any part of their contract will be charged 25% of total balance
due OR $50, whichever is greater.
The University of Delaware reserves the right to adjust
the schedule to accommodate special circumstances, such as Test
Sessions and other emergency situations.

The University is located in the center of Newark, Delaware and
is surrounded by fine residential neighborhoods. The campus provides
a comfortable and secure environment for skaters of all ages without
the distractions of large city or resort environments.
- » Dedicated on-campus summer housing
On-campus residence halls enhance the resident skater's experience
by providing a living/learning atmosphere. Trained residence hall
staff are assigned specifically to the skating program and oversee
skaters' daily needs. A trained counselor is on duty 24 hours
a day.
- » Recreation facilities
Skaters have access to the basketball, volleyball and tennis courts,
adjacent to the residence hall. For an additional $3/day, skaters
have access to the outdoor pool, located directly behind the Gold
Arena.
Transportation
A University vehicle and counselors are assigned to
provide local transportation to and from training facilities. A
trained counselor is on duty 24 hours a day.
