Off-Ice Training
Recognizing the importance of off-ice training, the University of Delaware offers comprehensive dance, strength and conditioning programs.
Off Ice Dance Program
The Training Center has a spacious dance studio a few steps away from the ice in the Fred Rust Arena. Master classes are offered from a variety of
teachers in ballet, jazz, modern, character and ballroom dance. Specific benefits of off-ice dance include: increased coordination, balance, awareness of musicality,
artistic expression, flexibility and concentration. Group lessons also provide a sense of camaraderie in a fun and energetic atmosphere where skaters can rise to the
challenges of different techniques and choreography.
Off Ice Conditioning/Weight Training Program
The conditioning and weight training program focuses
on strength, cardiovascular exercise and flexibility. This program
is designed to meet the individual needs of each figure skater.
Its goal is to improve the skater's performance on the ice by increasing
their strength and cardiovascular endurance. The strength and conditioning
facility is conveniently located in the Fred Rust Ice Arena and
is equipped with a variety of weight training and cardiovascular
equipment.
