VIDEO PRODUCTION TECHNICIAN III (T8)

NATURE OF JOB:
Under limited supervision, provides advanced technical support for studio and location video production and postproduction. The principal emphasis is on the creative operation of cameras, digital editing, and lighting equipment to create sophisticated video programs containing a variety of special audio/video effects and techniques. A high level of creative and aesthetic judgment is required.

EXAMPLES OF WORK:
Depending on assignment, the following are typical examples of work:
 
* Operates nonlinear digital editing systems to create sophisticated visual effects for videotape programs based on a general message design; 
* Maintains current software and installs software upgrades and modifications for digital editing systems; 
* Sets up cameras and records basic location and studio scenes based on a general message design; 
* Designs lighting plans to achieve desired results for location and studio recording; 
* Coordinates and produce small-scale video production projects; 
* Researches and recommends equipment and accessories for the video production unit; 
* Prepares bills for basic services and small-scale projects; 
* Trains and schedules student and part-time workers; 
* Serves as backup for other Video Production Technicians; 
* Performs other related duties as assigned.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND ABILITIES:
Requires a minimum of a high school diploma or GED with a vocational/technical specialization in videography or television production and six years of progressively responsible experience in videography, editing and lighting, or an Associate’s degree or two years of college study in communication or television production and four years of experience including two years of nonlinear editing; or a minimum of two years of experience as a Video Production Technician II. Requires advanced knowledge of field and studio lighting techniques, communication and visualization skills and skills in videography and editing as documented in a demonstration reel. Requires intermediate knowledge of PC and Mac computers. Requires the ability to follow oral and written instructions, read floor plans and lighting diagrams, solve problems under time constraints and work independently. Must be able to communicate, supervise, direct and interact effectively well with people of all ages and diverse backgrounds.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
Ability to lift and move, with or without assistance, video and audio equipment weighing up to 50 pounds. Ability to accurately discern colors and the pitch, tone and volume of sound. Must have well-developed motor skill for camera operation. Requires a valid motor vehicle license.
