ITV OPERATIONS TECHNICIAN  III (T8)

NATURE OF JOB:
Under limited supervision, coordinates technical support services and supervises staff for the production of telecourses and live programming for distribution via videotape, satellite, fiber and Internet. The principal emphasis is on coordinating the use of resources and facilities, supervising technical staff and managing multiple projects for the production and distribution of video telecourses.

EXAMPLES OF WORK:

Depending on unit assignment, the following are typical examples of work:

* Manages ITV projects by defining presentation needs, determining production techniques, and scheduling resources to produce telecourses;
* Supervises ITV Operation Technicians I & II for specific projects;
* Coordinates and assigns the ITV facilities for the duplication and/or editing of video;
* Instructs faculty and other clients in the use of the ITV facilities and available multimedia/Internet tools;
* Oversees programming of campus cable playback for faculty/clients;
* Coordinates scheduling of all satellite transmission and reception or two-way dial-up connections and site location facilities for videoconferencing;
* Coordinates the duplication and distribution of both live and previously taped ITV courses and programs;
* Maintains database tracking, storage, archiving, and disposal of tape masters of courses and programs; 
* Records and/or encodes telecourses and other programming; 
* May provide post production support to digitize and format lessons for Internet distribution; 
* Trains and supervises operators; 
* Performs other related duties as assigned.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND ABILITIES:
Requires a minimum of a high school diploma or GED with a vocational/technical specialization in television production and six years of progressively responsible experience in control room operation, or an Associate's degree or two years of college study in communication or television production and four years of experience, or a minimum of two years of experience as an ITV Operations Technician II. Must be able to perform basic camera, control room and videotape editing operations and have advanced knowledge of PC and Mac computers and skills for developing formats to adapt video information for distribution via the Internet as documented in a demonstration reel and/or Web site. Requires the ability to follow oral and written instructions, solve problems under time constraints and work independently. Must be able to communicate, supervise, direct and interact effectively with people of all ages and diverse backgrounds. 

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
Requires the ability to lift and move, with or without assistance, video and audio equipment weighing up to 50 pounds. Ability to accurately discern colors and the tone and volume of sound. Must have well-developed motor skill for camera operation.
