FLSA Status: Nonexempt Revised July 1, 1999 NATURE OF JOB: Under limited supervision, provides technical support for the production of telecourses and live programming for distribution via videotape, satellite, fiber and Internet. The principal emphasis is on recording and editing of content segments to be incorporated in larger programs and courses. EXAMPLES OF WORK: Depending on unit assignment, the following are typical examples of work: * Performs the coordination and production work needed to complete content segments to be incorporated in larger project; * Records and/or encodes telecourses and other programming; * Duplicates and/or edits video programs; * May coordinate video editing or encoding projects; * Assists TV Engineering Technicians in the installation, setup and maintenance of video production facilities; * Serves as a member of the television production crew for remote tape video production; * Instructs faculty and other clients in the use of the ITV facilities and available multimedia/Internet tools; * Trains and supervises part-time ITV staff; * Programs and monitors campus cable playback for faculty/clients; * May provide primary technical operation support for two-way instructional television classrooms; * May provide postproduction support to digitize and format lessons for Internet distribution; * Performs other related duties as assigned. EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND ABILITIES: Requires a minimum of a high school diploma or GED with a vocational/technical specialization in television production and four years of progressively responsible experience in control room operation, or an Associate's degree or two years of college study in communication or television production and two years of experience, or minimum of two years of experience as an ITV Operations Technician I. Must be able to perform basic camera, control room and videotape editing operations and have intermediate knowledge of PC and Mac computers and skills for adapting video information for distribution via the Internet as documented in a demonstration reel and/or Web site. Requires the ability to follow oral and written instructions, solve problems under time constraints and work independently. Must be able to communicate effectively with people of all ages and diverse backgrounds. SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Requires the ability to lift and move, with or without assistance, video and audio equipment weighing up to 50 pounds. Ability to accurately discern colors and the tone and volume of sound. Must have well-developed motor skill for camera operation.
