CUTTER/DRAPER (T7) 
FLSA Status: Nonexempt

NATURE OF JOB:
Under general supervision, assists with draping, pattern drafting and cutting of period costumes for the Professional Theatre Training Program (PTTP). The principal emphasis is on interpreting renderings, pattern making, stitching and overseeing construction of costumes. A high level of independent judgment, initiative and problem solving skills are required.

EXAMPLES OF WORK:
Depending on unit assignment, the following are typical examples of work: 

* Interprets Costume Designer’s renderings; drapes, cuts and patterns costumes to be constructed;
* Fits patterned costumes and alters patterns as necessary;
* Determines materials list for garment needs;
* Determines garment construction procedures;
* Maintains inventory records;
* Supervises and instructs stichers and students in Shop Manager’s absence;
* Performs other related duties as assigned.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND ABILITIES:
Requires a minimum of a high school diploma or GED with four years related experience in garment construction. Additional related education may be substituted for required experience. Associate's degree or equivalent college-level course work in a related field preferred. Requires proficiency in period costuming, ability to operate industrial sewing machinery; basic computer skills; ability to follow and give instructions and communicate effectively and interact well with people of all ages and diverse backgrounds.
