CONFERENCE TECHNICIAN II (T7) 
FLSA Status: Nonexempt

NATURE OF JOB:
Under limited supervision, provides technical support requiring technical and aesthetic judgment for meetings and conferences. The principal emphasis is the setup, operation, monitoring and adjustment of sound, video display, PC level computing equipment and lighting systems.  

EXAMPLES OF WORK:
Depending on unit assignment, the following are typical examples of work: 

* Sets up and connects audio and video display systems having multiple inputs; 
* Programs and operates lighting and audio control consoles; 
* Monitors and adjusts audio levels during live presentations;
* Supervises students and part-time workers
* Sets up and connects computers to video/data projectors; 
* Trains and orients student groups in the safe and proper use of media equipment; 
* Provides backup for Conference Technician I;
* Performs other related duties as assigned. 

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND ABILITIES:
Requires a minimum of a high school diploma or GED with a vocational/technical specialization in media technology and five years of progressively responsible experience in conference technical support, or an Associate's degree or two years of progressively responsible experience in conference technical support .  Requires the ability to follow oral and written instructions; basic computer literacy and knowledge of computing hardware connections; the ability to solve problems under time constraints and the ability to work independently. Must be able to communicate effectively with people having varied levels of technical knowledge and interact well with people of all ages and diverse backgrounds. 

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
Ability to lift and move, with or without assistance, equipment weighing up to 50 pounds. Ability to accurately discern colors and the pitch, tone and volume of sound.
